Exhibiting NFT Photography IRL: Breaking Out of the Physical Print and Traditional Gallery Space
I conceived and developed this panel in conjunction with my curatorial work on The World Today, selected and invited the participating panelists, and submitted the proposal to NFT.NYC, where it was accepted for presentation.
The panel explored a question central to my approach to exhibiting digital photography: how can the photographic JPEG exist in physical space without being translated back into a traditional print? I proposed that with blockchain technology, the tokenized JPEG could be understood as a final photographic artifact rather than simply an intermediary to a physical object. Freed from the fixed dimensions and material limitations of paper, digital photography could activate screens, surfaces, architecture, and immersive environments, opening new possibilities for artists and curators to rethink how photography is exhibited and experienced.
I also examined how blockchain technology and QR access could create a more direct relationship between the physical exhibition, the digital artwork, the artist, and the collector.
