“String Resonance” was curated in conjunction with SunWaves Guitar Fest, the Guitar Foundation of America’s international festival organized by the Miami Classical Guitar Society. I invited 31 multidisciplinary artists from Miami and New York to create works exploring the resonance of sound and the classical guitar, spanning drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, installation, and sound sculpture.
A central feature was a ceiling installation of sewn leaves suspended on strings by Miami artist Karen Rifas, weaving through the gallery to echo the lyrical motion of music. Because the Red Gallery’s walls, floor, and ceiling were entirely tiled in red and could not be drilled, I commissioned custom freestanding display walls that suctioned to the tile without damage. The resulting design created a flowing sequence of sightlines, where each artwork resonated visually with those adjacent or opposite, forming a cohesive, multisensory experience that mirrored the vibration and rhythm of sound.
